Connecticut Child Protection Cases
Child protection agencies across the United States must protect children from neglect and abuse. However, in many instances, they can also make terrible mistakes, which cause irreparable harm to children and parents who don't deserve it. Here, in Connecticut — the Department of Child and Families — is no exception.
At Barrie L. Goldstein, LLC, we help reunite parents with children who were wrongfully taken from them by Connecticut's DCF.
One of the unique assets Ms. Goldstein offers with regard to DCF cases is the nearly 20 years of experience she spent working as a lawyer for the government. What that background gives her today is an intimate knowledge of how to navigate governmental bureaucracies like the DCF and to get things done on behalf of your client.
In child protection cases, you have to be proactive and you have to know with whom to talk. Ms. Goldstein does, and she can help. Her reputation and tenacity make certain that she will not let go.
While serving as Director of Special Litigation at the Legal Aid Society, Ms. Goldstein acted as lead counsel in the landmark Nicholson v. Williams decision involving the constitutionality of removing children from their mothers when the mothers, themselves, were victims of domestic violence. The case was litigated in the federal trial and appellate court, and ultimately, in the New York State Court of Appeals.
