Civil Litigation Practice

Connecticut — New York Civil Litigation Attorney

Barrie L. Goldstein focuses her practice on civil litigation, combining her passion for the law and individual rights with compassion for the needs of the individuals she represents. She uses her experience and knowledge of constitutional, administrative, and regulatory schemes and state laws and applies them in each case to tenaciously defend her clients’ rights.

Her experience as a former trial lawyer with the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and Special Litigation Counsel with the New York State Attorney General and as private counsel for individuals, businesses and groups of people with claims against government entities gives Ms. Goldstein a thorough, first-hand understanding of the complexities involved in state and federal cases.

Barrie Goldstein has handled dozens of civil litigation matters during her multi-faceted career of more than three decades. Both in her private practice and government positions, Barrie has represented clients at all levels of the judicial system including state, federal and appellate courts in New York. Recently, she has litigated numerous matters in Connecticut’s family and trial courts.

Ms. Goldstein also provides consulting services to local municipalities, boards, commissions and other entities, which are confronted with issues involving employment law, administrative and regulatory law, as well as constitutional challenges, including due process, first amendment and equal protection.

Barrie has first-hand experience with the issues and events involved with civil litigation. They vary greatly such as: sensitive family law matters involving children; wrongful termination; governmental abuse of power; complex land use actions involving the takings clause, violations of due process, and class action lawsuits based on difficult-to-establish patterns of discrimination.
